Shelton Construction Co has worked with Southwest Michigan College on many projects. The most recent projects were a new Student Housing Facility and an addition and renovation to the Zollar Student Activity Center. These projects totaled $11 Million. Eleven contractors (three local) were asked to respond to a “Request for Qualification” (RFQ). Five contractors were then invited to bid. Shelton Construction Co was the only local contractor invited and was awarded the project. Southwest Michigan College’s President, Dave Matthews, and its Board of Directors then decided to construct a second Student Housing Facility, and that project was also awarded to Shelton Construction Co without rebidding.

This project is one of St Joseph’s major developments and is located on the St Joseph River at the shores of Lake Michigan bordering Silver Beach. The Owner/Developer, Inter-Continental Real Estate & Development , awarded Shelton Construction Co the construction management services based on our past track record and successful local projects. This stunning development included a new seawall, a Marina, Townhouses constructed over private boat slips, and a luxurious eight-story Condominium with high end finishes and amenities.
